Saturday Night Live is kicking off season 47 with first-time host actor Owen Wilson and musical guest Kacey Musgraves. But folks won’t fail to notice an important cast member missing from the premiere.
Days before the NBC sketch series was set to return with new episodes, SNL announced on Monday that comedian and actor Beck Bennett was leaving the show after eight years. Later that day, the 36-year-old bid adieu by sharing 10 photos on Instagram of the most memorable times he had on the comedy sketch show.
“Love you, SNL,” he captioned the gallery. “Gonna miss you so much. Thank you for 8 years of remarkable people and incredible experiences that completely changed my life. I had so much fun ❤️.”

Best known for his impression of former Vice President Mike Pence, Beck first joined the SNL cast back in 2013 for season 39. After coming on as a featured player, he was promoted two years later to a repertory player as part of the main cast.
Throughout the years, he not only became a fan-favorite, but also made a huge impact on the cast. Needless to say, fellow cast members got emotional over his departure and many took a moment to celebrate him and all the laughs they shared on their Instagram Stories.
“@beckbennett the best,” wrote Bowen Yang. “Oh my god thank you for the reminder about the missed doorbell @beckbennett,” said Cecily Strong to which Beck replied, “😂😂😂 @cecilystrong the best!” Kenan Thompson added, “Gonna miss these times!! Congrats on your graduation @beckbennett!! ❤️.” Chloe Fineman commented, “❤️ @beckbennett” and Heidi Gardner wrote in part, “CONGRATS @beckbennett for an incredible run for SNL!! Thank you for being you.”
Aidy Bryant also reminisced about their time together with her own collection of pics. “Love you beef @beckbennett gonna cry and scream every day without you,” she wrote on one slide. “Love you @aidybryant!! Don’t worry, I’ll call you daily for advice,” Beck replied.
Apart from the SNL crew, writers and other crew members also sent their best to him. “Beck made a very very hard job look easy every week. Congrats on 8 years buddy!!!! ❤️❤️ One of the best of the best,” said writer Sudi Green to which Beck replied, “Thank you @sudigreen!!! Only cuz the smart n’ funny writers like you giving me something to do! ❤️❤️❤️.” Costumer designer Jill Bream added, “I will miss you, @beckbennett but at least I have this picture to cherish forever” and Beck responded, “Nobody would hang with this sad baby.”
What’s more, Beck isn’t the only one saying goodbye ahead of SNL’s comeback. Comedian Lauren Holt is leaving the weekly show after just one season. As a featured player, she made a name for herself playing Beck’s wife a.k.a. former VP Mike’s wife, Karen.
But something tells us that this won’t be the last we’ll hear from them.
